Orbit Downloader is a freeware graphical download manager for the Microsoft Windows operating system. One of the main features of the program is its ability to grab and download embedded Flash Video files from sites like YouTube, Dailymotion, Metacafe etc. Orbit Downloader also accelerates downloads by acting as a peer-to-peer client, utilizing bandwidth of other users.
Orbit Downloader supports the following protocols:
- HTTP
- HTTPS
- FTP
- Metalink
- RTSP (Real-Time Streaming Protocol)
- PNM (rename PNM to RTSP)
- MMS (Microsoft Media Services)
- NSS (rename NetShow Services to MMS)
- RTMP (Real Time Messaging Protocol)
Orbit Downloader works with all major browsers like Opera, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Maxthon and Netscape.

[edit] Issues
The software functions entirely as advertised, but the "100% clean" rating is misleading. Users who install Orbit Downloader (with the default settings) will notice that their homepages are rerouted to an Orbit-branded version of Google, and the default search box in Internet Explorer is also changed to the Orbit search function. This is easily avoided, however, by un-selecting the appropriate boxes during the installation of the program.
[edit] In the News
